January 2020 Community Dance, "Australia Day."

It was Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi as everyone embraced the spirit of Australia Day at our Community Dance on 24 January. A couple of intrepid dancers even came sporting shorts, beach towels and thongs.

Thanks to Rita and Bob for their excellent music and the entire Kyneton Dance Club Committee, who put so much effort into making these dances so successful.

Don’t forget our 28 February Dance will be a fundraiser for a bushfire relief appeal. We have not chosen where the money will be going, but will keep you posted.

New Years Eve 2019

A smaller crowd came together to see the New Year in with the Kyneton and District Old Time Dance Club. Rita and Bob were in really terrific form and just keep getting better too. Rita has well and truly mastered her new keyboard. Fewer dancers meant lots more room on the dance floor so all took full advantage of this, not to mention the delicious supper.

Everybody had a great night but celebrations were a bit subdued in light of the terrible bushfire events of the last day of 2019 and the difficult times facing our fellow Australians. Lets hope for really good rainfall in 2020. Here’s Cheers to a new decade.

Our first club social night is 21 January with the January Community Dance on 24 January where we will have an Australia Day theme.

Have you lost a pair of shoes?

If you attended our Christmas Dance and had to dash off before midnight, lest you turned back into Cinderella, your car would have become a pumpkin and your dashing prince run off and leave you, unfortunately you have left behind your glass slippers.

Seriously, did anyone who was at our Christmas afternoon dance leave behind a pair of dancing shoes? If you did could please contact our club President Mary Thornley on 0400 126 870.

Christmas Afternoon Dance and Meal, Sunday 15 December.

There was a lovely spirit of Christmas in the Hutton Street Hall on Sunday afternoon and evening December 15. Around 100 people enjoyed the festivities, dancing to the carefully selected music of JNB Productions. Thanks to John for your fabulous music not only for this event but for our club nights throughout the year. It was great to see many new faces and a few couples treated us to an awesome display of rock and roll routines. Father Christmas and elfin helper didn’t forget to drop by either. The afternoon dancing rolled into an evening meal together, catered for by JBL Catering, we can highly recommend them as the food was delicious. Thanks to Barry for providing a Christmas music interlude and to Anna Marie for leading the singing of those beautiful carols. The proceeds from the day are being directed to Kyneton Caring Community Inc., who do much work around Kyneton assisting those in need. On behalf of the Kyneton and District Old Time Dance Club, we wish you all a very merry Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2020.

November Community Dance, “Sportsmen and Farmers.”

It was a terrific night for the November Kyneton Community Dance with quite a few farmers and sports people circulating around the dance floor, to the wonderful music of Family Rhythm.

Sue enjoyed the Progressive Jive and Julie was happy to be up and about again after her recent surgery. Daryl had a particularly good night, being sanctioned to wear his flannelette shirt, a garment he considers suitable for any occasion.

But Helen was the star of the night, she stepped in at the eleventh hour to staff the kitchen and prepare the supper. A big thank-you, everything was perfectly timed and presented and gratefully consumed by all who attended. Thanks also to all the other helpers.

Hurry if you want to get one of Clive’s (Mid Vic Dances) calendars, as he is already on the second printing, details on our website Home Page. See you all at the Christmas Breakup Community Dance on 15 December.

Kyneton Old Time Dance Club, October Club Night, “Halloween.”

The October Community Dance was creepy, kooky and altogether spooky. Ninety ghosts and ghouls, demons and devils, witches and warlocks, spooks and spectres danced to the out of this world music of Rod MacKenzie. Jill was a scream, Anne was Maleficent, whilst Pam had grown warts and Clare and turned green. The supper was fit for a Halloween feast and we even had some passerby’s stop to check out the fun and frivolity. Check out all the photos on our webpage .
